Manchester United have sent Paul Scholes home from the pre-season tour of Asia due to injury.

The United midfielder missed the match against Shenzhen FC on Monday and the full extent of the injury is not known as yet, but he did undergo a scan on Sunday.

With the Premiership season starting in under a month, the United medical team have decided not to take any risk on Scholes’ injury and have sent him home from the tour five days early.

United fans will be hopeful that the problem does not keep him out of the Premiership opener against Reading.
