Man Utd - Alan SmithManchester United’s Alan Smith is reported to be in talks with Newcastle United today over a possible £6million move.

Reports suggest that Smith has snubbed a move to Middlesbrough and would be interested in moving to St James Park despite the fact he’d have Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Shola Ameobi, Albert Luque and Andy Carroll to compete with for a place in Sam Allardyce’s side

Man Utd - Alan SmithManchester United have revealed that they have not received any formal offers for Alan Smith.

Middlesbrough are reported to be closing in on the England international, but while United chief executive David Gill admitted that there has been enquiries, inlcuding one by text message, no clubs have made a bid for Smith.

Fergie: Heinze will not join Liverpool

ManUtd - Gabriel HeinzeManchester United are investigating whether Liverpool made an illegal approach for Gabriel Heinze.

The Argentina defender wants to leave Old Trafford and has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, although Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he will not sell to their fierce rivals.

“Gabriel Heinze will not be joining Liverpool,” Ferguson said.

Man Utd - Paul ScholesPaul Scholes could miss the start of the Premiership season after Manchester United confirmed that he will undergo an exploratory knee operation.

Scholes injured his knee during the pre-season tour of Asia and returned home to Manchester five days early.

Man Utd - Paul ScholesManchester United have sent Paul Scholes home from the pre-season tour of Asia due to injury.

The United midfielder missed the match against Shenzhen FC on Monday and the full extent of the injury is not known as yet, but he did undergo a scan on Sunday.

Giggs and Brown to get new deals

Man Utd - Ryan GiggsWes Brown and Ryan Giggs are set to be offered new contracts at Manchester United.

Both players are entering the final year of their contracts with the Premiership champions, but chief executive David Gill insists there is no need to worry about rushing to get new deals sorted.

Talks are yet to begin with either player, but with both settled at Old Trafford, there is no chance of them going elsewhere.
